Lower Havannah Street: Its History & its People.
The area around lower Havannah St. & the Macquarie River was vital to the early development of Bathurst as a village & town. The chinese grew vegetables along the river bank. People grazed their coww, sheep, horses & bullock teams in the area. Visitors camped around the area after crossing the Macquarie River before continuing on with their journey out west & south to the Abercrombie River, then further south to the Riverina area of NSW.
