The meeting will be followed by our speaker, Graham Lupp who will be talking about his father Hector who was known by many as The Piano Man.

Graham Lupp is a well-known Bathurst artist with a love of painting landscapes and the built environment. He is also the author of Building Bathurst, a remarkable two-volume work which documents, through biographies and photos, the colonial architects responsible for so many buildings in Bathurst and the Central West.
Graham is the son of Hector Lupp.

Hector was a piano teacher and piano tuner and was a familiar face at the Bathurst Show for almost 60 years. From early 1934 Hector regularly played the Bathurst War Memorial Carillon and in 1937 he was appointed the first official carillonist.  By the time he retired from the position in 1945, he had given over 500 recitals.
In addition to Hector’s musical background and some family history, Graham also presents a different side to his father who was in many ways a bit of a larrikin with a great sense of humour which got him through a difficult life. He also balanced his tedious work life with a great love of the outdoors, fishing, hunting and generally being in the bush. The presentation will include many photographs not seen before
