Bathurst is the oldest inland city in Australia - older in fact than Melbourne,
Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth. The buildings were erected and lived in by the
pioneers of a new nation and they represent all stages of development of that
nation. The drawings in this book represent the humble dwellings of the railway
workers, the homes of successful merchants and graziers and the working classes,
the memorial, the commercial buildings, the churches and schools, the law,
transport and the places of entertainment and refreshment for the gold miners,
the drovers and the bullock drivers.
Harry Dorman has captured all these images in his paintings and sketches. Out of print. |
