This book was written to give the reader some historic knowledge on how the village and the environs became places of importance in the nineteenth century. 0' Council Plains was named after Lt. Col. Maurice O'Connell. The Campbells River was named after Mrs. Macquarie's maiden name. The Fish River received its name because of the abundance of fish in it.
